As he approaches his sixth anniversary in charge, Mikel Arteta has admitted that his continued role with the club is inextricably linked to delivering trophies.
The Journey So Far: From Appointment to Present
Arteta was appointed on December 20th, 2019 and soon guided the team to an cup win a short time later. Yet, that first major trophy remains his sole major honor after taking over from Unai Emery.
“Yes,” he stated when questioned about his future past 2027. “Yet it's about today. And numerous factors need to fall into place in the next few months as well to deserve that opportunity.”
He will mark the anniversary with a match versus Everton, the identical team Arsenal faced the day after his role was made public.
League Position and Pressure

The squad faces the weekend fixture managing a fresh setback. Defender Ben White has been ruled out with a hamstring injury that is expected to see him miss action for a few weeks.
Confidence in the Path
Even with the availability issues and the immense scrutiny, Arteta believes the club's “focus and dialogue” are profoundly distinct from when he began his reign.
Arteta highlighted the record-breaking achievements as evidence of progress. “Consider the performances, all the club records that were shattered... We still have yet to do that [win trophies]. But that indicates the caliber we've reached.”
Arteta concluded, “That is a level that the Premier League has not witnessed in the past. And we want to achieve more lofty ambitions. And if we do that, I think we are on the proper course to winning.”
