Homages Flow for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Are Sealed.
Well beyond 14 days after the tragic deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, the entertainment community persist in remembering the duo.
A Heartfelt Farewell: Cary Elwes Pays Tribute to His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who rose to fame in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt prepared to share openly about his profound loss.
"Sufficient time has gone by that I can now articulate my loss into words," shared Elwes, noting that his introductory moment with Reiner left him smitten. "Once we started sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I wanted in my life."
The actor uploaded archival material from the production, commenting that he doesn't recollect "one day without joy".
"This story is about devotion, fidelity and selflessness. Principles that Rob cherished deeply. Which is among the many reasons he was the ideal person to helm it," Elwes continued.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, saying: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an oversimplification. My heart still hurts every time I recall you." He finished with a phrase from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but life is pain without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Fellow Artist
In a separate essay, revered director Martin Scorsese paid homage to Reiner, whom he initially encountered in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved spending time with Rob. We had a instant connection for each other. He was hilarious and sometimes acutely humorous, but he was never the kind of guy who would take over the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, embodying the father of the lead role.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked seamlessly with the cast, and he comprehended the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese wrote.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Withheld
Recently, a Los Angeles court official ruled to prevent the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the LAPD.
A judicial mandate placed a security hold on the files to limit the public release of "related notes, documents, files or images" associated with the ongoing investigation.
The coroner's office had previously confirmed their deaths were the consequence of foul play, with a public database citing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Aftermath and Reactions
In the wake of the killings, public personalities offered divergent responses.
Ex-President Donald Trump wrote on the matter, offering provocative claims that were broadly criticized by numerous commentators.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his perspective to the critics recently. Talking on his podcast, Rogan described the remarks as "disturbing" and implied they showed a troubling lack of empathy.
Rogan ended by remarking that an associate could have acted when the impulse to speak on the death was made.
