Barça Set to Play Historic Match at Renovated Camp Nou over the weekend
Barça revealed their first game will take place at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit the Bilbao team in the Spanish league over two years after they moved out to allow renovations to start.
“We’ve dreamed about the return. Now, it’s here. We’re back home. Back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
The stadium will not be at full capacity though over 45,000 attendees are permitted inside under the licence granted. When completed, it will accommodate over 104,000 attendees, up from the previous 99,000. The club said recent additions comprise an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barcelona held a fan-accessible workout inside the stadium earlier this month. They mentioned they were hoping for permission by UEFA for their upcoming Champions League fixture versus the German side in December at the stadium. Their recent games have been held at the Olympic Stadium.
