Anthony Joshua Released from Hospital in Nigeria Following Fatal Car Crash
The British boxer Anthony Joshua has been discharged from hospital, local government spokespeople announced on late Wednesday. The fighter was involved in a car accident near Lagos on Monday, a devastating event that took the lives of two of his close associates.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
Joshua had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his management team had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post on X that Joshua was judged healthy enough to leave and heal privately.
“The boxer and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two deceased friends as they were being made ready for the journey back,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
Those who lost their lives were confirmed to be Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”
The news of his discharge arrives after the boxing community offered condolences for the champion in the wake of the heartbreaking incident.
